We get a fresh shipment of new magazines just about everyweek at work! I think they come as free subscriptions sent to our media arm of the agency as an incitive for them to by media space in their publication. Most of the time it’s just multiple copies of People, Time, Ad Age, Media Week, and some local prints from Seattle but every now and then we get a handful of the good stuff. I just refer to them as the goods; prints like Wired, Good, Id, and sports Illustrated. Everybody knows I’m the agency magazine pack rat and those publications are mine! Yeah, I’m the new guy and just a junior but in the realm of office freebies their is no senority… Just an unbridled belief of entitlment by routine! In the four months that I’ve been at the agency I’ve marked my territory and at least on copy of those prints have always been mine. Recently, I’ve missed out on a handful of my vital reads. I don’t know how or why but there has obviously been a slight disruption in our perfectly balanced ecosystem. I think it’s due to some of the new freelance guys who joined the team! They seem just like the type to hang around the mail room for fresh shipments. They don’t have any loyalties nor do they have any reason to maintain the office print ecosystem! I didn’t want to have to do this but, if things remain the way they are I’m going to have to look into some inside trading directly with the people in traffic! Sure It’s an unspoken breech of the open office print counsel but like I said…What’s Mine Is Mine!

I came across this purple wonder while walking through Queen Ann to work this morning. It made me think about the people who dare to be themselves. The slightly different and unashamed creative types that have the audacity to produce the abstract concepts they conceive in their minds. It’s a definite contrast from the million dollar abodes that surround and dawrf the humble little fixture but I think it brings a much needed splash of orginality to the neighborhood. My guess is that the house is occupied by a free spirited women along with her twelve cats, who have been commissioned by the Freemont district to colonize west Seattle! May God bless her journey!

Shweeb is world’s first human powered monorail racetrack. Located in New Zealand, it allows you to race against your friends and get the heart-pumping workout in complete safety. The Shweeb is essentially an aerodynamic transparent bullet that allows the rider to propel themselves on seven different pedaling gears at up to 30 mph. Although the Shweeb follows the constructed steel track it does allow the rider to adjust speed, swing out sided to side on a 60-degree angle, and adjust the bearing according to your height and body size. a Currently the Shweeb is only being developed as an thrill seeking entertainment ride. Allowing riders to race around a pre-constructed looped course against each other or against the clock. But you can already see the implication a monorail system could have on transportation relief in downtown metropolitan cities. The Shweeb comes with some impressive advantages, its one hundred percent environmentally friendly, and incredibly practical for riders as at any given speed your using around half the energy of a road bike or mountain bike. Perhaps the Shweeb is just the solution we need to help alleviate our nations obesity epidemic, environmental woes, and mundane early morning commutes! a

We my have never fully understood his genius and even now we stand in awe of a man who was a global icon and yet at the same time a complete enigma, but his life stands as a testament that non of us know the day nor the hour that might be our last. I pray that we all live life abundantly in truth! The world is still reeling from the news of Michael Jackson’s death, but San Francisco fans commemorated the Gloved One’s passing in a way that would make him proud: They gathered for an impromptu dance party.
The San Francisco Michael Jackson flash mob took place at the Ferry Building and lasted well into the night, according to attendees. That it happened at all is proof of how Michael Jackson was able to connect with his fans and inspire them in incredible ways. - Trendhunter

That’s right, you won’t find Kogi to be some four star restaurant but rather it’s a roving truck that frequents the after hour hotspots of LA. Amazingly, everywhere the truck stops there’s a jubilant mob of Kogi fans waiting to get their fill. That’s because their utilizing Twitter (@Kogibbq) to alert all their Kogi-nites their exact location and future stops.
Besides from being the complete rebel to the taco truck category Kogi’s impromptu flash mobs stand as a beautiful example as to what’s possible when social media is at the core of a brand idea and not just simply a spin-off to a campaign. With a good product and a passion for their craft they have managed to garner an organic following of faithful customers who not only appreciate but celebrate and broadcast the brand to the world. Without any advertising, Kogi has spawned a whole series of videos on Youtube that praise the elusive and at times mythical taco truck as it meanders its way through the LA’s streets! Be sure to check out “Chasing the Dragon” it’s by far one of the best videos to capture the essence and authenticity of the Kogi experience (Checkout the Kogi Fan Love)

For some reason my best thinking always seems to come while I’m waiting for a flight in the airport. It always seems to be the time that allows me to come up with my most off the wall ideas. Now, I’m not saying there Donny Duetch million dollar concepts, but their usually pretty big and nature and if anything intriguing.
Maybe it’s the anticipation of the flight that gets my creative juices flowing or perhaps it’s just the immense amount of unplugged free time I have while I wait. My personal theory is that its partially due to some underlying desire of wanting to live vicariously through some of the jet setting multimillionaire moguls whom always seem to be creating and operating business from their Iphones as they wisp through security. They just always seem to be on top of their game, always looking for more inspiration to move their hustle forward. Who knows, all that deep thinking and button mashing could all just be a front! They might be playing Mrs. Pac man just like the rest of us, aiming for the high score!
Whatever the reason, I need to find a way to capture this aeronautic creative boost and channel it into my everyday life. I’m not going to lie; I could use a couple of multi-million dollar ideas in my life right now.

For all of us who have unashamedly played the air violin to The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony wishing you could play it for real, this is for you. Industrial designer and slight genius Carlos Mendez has created an electric violin he calls the Squidolin. You can connect the Squidolin to your television set and it will walk you through a series of tutorials based on mastering violin fundamentals. Now don’t be confused, this is by no means a Guitar Hero Rockband-esque violin façade. Squidolin is crafted with real Maplewood and can be connected to an amplifier and played like the genuine thing. And once you figure out what your doing I’ve heard the sound is really quite beautiful. Oh, and the Squidolin gets its name from its squid inspired body design fitted into the violin motif. I wonder if there’s anything in the works for an electric stand-up bass in the future! Check him out at Crmendez.com I leave you with a little Joshua Bell playing “Avia Maria.” Feel free to air violin your heart out!
