more about “Kogi BBQ in Little Tokyo“, posted with vodpod
I’ve been following this story for a little while now and finally found a great video to illustrate the beauty and genius behind the Kogi BBQ story.  Simply put Kogi, is a combination of Korean BBQ fused in the form of the traditional street taco. The company was founded by two former chefs who shared a common revelation of just how delicious Korean BBQ would be at 2 AM in the morning. So, with that epiphany along with a dash of courage they opened up southern California’s first Korean BBQ Taco truck.

That’s right, you won’t find Kogi to be some four star restaurant but rather it’s a roving truck that frequents the after hour hotspots of LA. Amazingly, everywhere the truck stops there’s a jubilant mob of Kogi fans waiting to get their fill.  That’s because their utilizing Twitter (@Kogibbq) to alert all their Kogi-nites their exact location and future stops.

Besides from being the complete rebel to the taco truck category Kogi’s impromptu flash mobs stand as a beautiful example as to what’s possible when social media is at the core of a brand idea and not just simply a spin-off to a campaign. With a good product and a passion for their craft they have managed to garner an organic following of faithful customers who not only appreciate but celebrate and broadcast the brand to the world.  Without any advertising, Kogi has spawned a whole series of videos on Youtube that praise the elusive and at times mythical taco truck as it meanders its way through the LA’s streets!  Be sure to check out “Chasing the Dragon” it’s by far one of the best videos to capture the essence and authenticity of the Kogi experience (Checkout the Kogi Fan Love)
