We get a fresh shipment of new magazines just about everyweek at work! I think they come as free subscriptions sent to our media arm of the agency as an incitive for them to by media space in their publication. Most of the time it’s just multiple copies of People, Time, Ad Age, Media Week, and some local prints from Seattle but every now and then we get a handful of the good stuff. I just refer to them as the goods; prints like Wired, Good, Id, and sports Illustrated. Everybody knows I’m the agency magazine pack rat and those publications are mine! Yeah, I’m the new guy and just a junior but in the realm of office freebies their is no senority… Just an unbridled belief of entitlment by routine! In the four months that I’ve been at the agency I’ve marked my territory and at least on copy of those prints have always been mine. Recently, I’ve missed out on a handful of my vital reads. I don’t know how or why but there has obviously been a slight disruption in our perfectly balanced ecosystem. I think it’s due to some of the new freelance guys who joined the team! They seem just like the type to hang around the mail room for fresh shipments. They don’t have any loyalties nor do they have any reason to maintain the office print ecosystem! I didn’t want to have to do this but, if things remain the way they are I’m going to have to look into some inside trading directly with the people in traffic! Sure It’s an unspoken breech of the open office print counsel but like I said…What’s Mine Is Mine!
